Text Box:    ROBERT “BOB” LEE MOSSBURG

DECEMBER 1, 1935 – MAY 2, 2021

Robert “Bob” Lee Mossburg, 85, a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, IN, passed away Sunday morning, May 2, 2021.  Bob was born in Sheridan on Monday, December 1, 1935 to James Elmer and Ruth Vivian (Bohr) Mossburg and lived, from age 9, in the home of his mother and step-father, Albert Forbush.

Bob was blessed to grow up with his six brothers and sisters in Sheridan.  He attended Sheridan High School and was a member of the Sheridan Church of God.

On November 3, 1958 Bob enlisted in the United States Army (4th Engineer Battalion) and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State until November 2, 1960.  During his time at Fort Lewis Bob earned the rank of Specialist as a Specialty Combat Engineer and the Good Conduct Medal.  Upon returning to Sheridan and continuing to serve by joining the United States Army Reserve, Bob began working at Biddle’s Screw Products (BIMCO), retiring after 40 years of employment.

Bob married Avalene Pearl Mace on June 16, 1962 and in doing so, instantly became the father of six.  Together he and Avalene added three more children to their family. Bob was always committed to his family and alongside Avalene raised nine children that he was proud to call his. He taught them what they would need know to be good adults and to know right from wrong, solely because he truly loved them. That love never wavered.  At least one of Bob’s children-in-laws thanked him regularly for raising their spouse.  Bob and Avalene were blessed to have a long and loving marriage of nearly 54 years until her passing on February 21, 2016.

Bob enjoyed helping his neighbors, family and friends, attending rodeos, working with horses, hunting, playing euchre and having morning coffee while visiting his mother at her home. He was very intelligent, could figure out just about anything, it came natural to him.  With the helpful labor of friends and family, he built his own home from the ground up.  He was a Junior Achievement advisor, something he was passionate about.  Bob and Avalene enjoyed traveling to Branson (MO) and visiting family in Florida, Michigan and everywhere in between.

Bob was a well-known, respected and beloved citizen of Sheridan for nearly 75 years, downsizing and moving to Noblesville in 2008. He led by example, always with a loving and kind heart.  He had the most genuine and welcoming smile and never left “I love you” unsaid. He was the sort of person others looked forward to visiting. Bob was a “Server”: He served his Country, Community, his family, friends and neighbors.  Most of all, he faithfully served his Lord Jesus.

Bob is survived by his Children, Janice Bell (Fred), Calvin Condry (Bev), David Condry (Janet), Gary Condry (Krissy), Denise Morgan (Kevin), Cathy Fuehring (Roger), Bob Mossburg (Loretta) and Don Mossburg (Ellen); Brothers, James Mossburg and William Forbush; Sisters Marsha Brown and Sharon Renner; 19 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren and several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.  He was preceded in passing by his Wife and 3 Parents; Daughter Robin Baker, Grandson Marshall Condry, Great Granddaughter Kelsey Rush and Brothers Richard Mossburg and Kenneth Forbush.
